Rotherham will be missing defender Mark Lynch who has dislocated his shoulder, so Jamie Green should deputise.
Marc Joseph is still nursing a knock, but boss Mark Robins must decide whether to recall striker Mark Burchill and Ryan Taylor after dropping them.
Southampton could welcome back defenders Michael Svensson and Lloyd James, with Oliver Lancashire (ban) and Wayne Thomas (knee injury) missing.
Morgan Schneiderlin (hamstring) and Simon Gillett are both out.
Rotherham United manager Mark Robins told BBC Radio Sheffield:
"There is not one of them that couldn't come in and do a job for us.
"We are fortunate in that way, and we need to be because it's seven subs in the cup competitions. So it will give one or two the chance to stake a claim for the place in the side."
