Steven Reid (knee) is the latest player to join Blackburn's injury list ahead of Wednesday's Carling Cup third-round tie with Everton at Ewood Park.

Reid joins David Dunn (Achilles), Vince Grella (calf), Benni McCarthy (groin) on the sidelines, while Aaron Mokoena is ill and Keith Andrews cup-tied.

Mikel Arteta is Everton's only fresh doubt for the trip because of illness.

Tony Hibbert (cruciate knee ligament) remains absent, with Andy van der Meyde (hamstring) and Steven Pienaar (ankle).

Everton midfielder Leon Osman told BBC Radio Merseyside:

"We'll be going into this match really positively and wanting to win the game.

"Last year we got to the semi-finals and we really enjoyed it and we want to go a step closer this year.

"To lose the way we did to Blackburn on the opening day of the season with a last-minute goal was disappointing, even though it was offside.

"It's all in the past now. It was a disappointing start for us and this gives us the opportunity to go back and put a few things right."

Toffees assistant manager Steve Round told BBC Radio Merseyside:

"Whenever you get a Premier League team in a cup, it's going to be a tough draw.

"We're preparing to do the best we can to win this game and we will go out with that attitude and I know Blackburn will as well.

"I'm hoping it is going to be a great game."
